Middlebury College Snow Bowl

Middlebury College Snow Bowl
Photo Gallery
Middlebury College Snow Bowl is nestled in Vermont's Green Mountains and is only 15 miles from the main campus.

The Snow Bowl has one of the richest skiing traditions in the country. The first trails were cut on the Bowl's Worth Mountain back in 1934. Ever since, the Bowl, owned and operated by Middlebury College, has been home to some of the best skiers in the country.

The College's ski teams, which train and compete at the Bowl, have won eastern and national collegiate championships and have included some of the biggest names in competitive skiing.

For cross-country skiers, the Carroll and Jane Rikert Ski Touring Center is just down the road at the College's Bread Loaf campus. The center features 25 miles of groomed trails and rents top-quality equipment.

The trails range from challenging circuits used by the top Nordic skiers in college competition, to gentler slopes designed for negotiation by the first-time skier.

The cozy base lodge, with its huge stone fireplace, sundeck and two-story picture windows, provides a wide-angle view of Worth Mountain and houses a full-service ski shop with an extensive inventory of rental equipment, a cafeteria and the headquarters of the Ski School.

Plenty of lodging is available nearby. There is a variety of accommodations within 10 miles of the Bowl, options including classic country inns such as the Waybury Inn of Bob Newhart fame.

The Middlebury College Snow Bowl is centrally located in Vermont on Route 125, 12 miles east of U.S. Route 7 and eight miles west of Route 100.
